Monika Bhardwaj, a third-generation police officer from her family, is Monika. Her grandfather was a constable and her father is a sub-inspector. The family is improving with each generation.

Monika was a UPSC CSE candidate in 2008, with All India rank 142. This was her first attempt. Even though IAS was her first service choice, she decided not to appear again.

• Monika Bhardwaj was appointed the Crime Branch Head in Delhi (DCP-Crime). This will be the first female police officer to hold this position. It will be fascinating to see how she tackles Delhi’s deteriorating law-and-order problems.
• Monika was also the focus of attention during the stand-off by police lawyers. Monika was literally attacked by unruly attorneys. She was an example of courage and determination to resist the black-clad moronic creatures.
